The Nicoya Peninsula is the most popular place in the country of Costa Rica to come and visit. I mean for good reason from a natural beauty perspective — it is stunning. A lot of the towns here are the most visited. You may notice, if you are familiar with the geography of this part of Colombia, that Tamarindo will not appear on this list. I have intentionally omitted it. I thought that it was terrible. So I didn't even want to write anything on the topic.  The Peninsula itself is lush, green, extremely wave rich, and full of things to explore. The beaches are beautiful as well. However, in my opinion it's just too touristy. I much prefer the less traveled southern portion of the country. But the peninsula is worth exploring. If you have the ability to explore by car, the peninsula really opens up as to what you can do and see here. I will warn you, as you get deeper in, if you are trying to drive around by car it can get a little hairy. I almost fully broke my car in a river on the way to Santa Teresa. Well, I guess, for about a week it was.  Here are a few spots on the Nicoya Peninsula. A few of my favorite places I have omitted intentionally 'cause I think they shouldn't really be called out, and I intentionally omitted my least favorite, Tamarindo.
