nosara, CR

Nosara is a small town in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica which is located on the Nicoya Peninsula in the northern part of the country. It's similar to the nearby town of Samara. I drove straight through. — Grabbed a little bit to eat, and was off. This page is going to sound a lot like the Samara one. I almost put them together, but since they are both going to be short call-outs from me, I decided to separate them. Nosara is incredibly nice. It's probably the most expensive place in Costa Rica. It's full of luxury houses and hotels. It's also full of a bunch of seemingly wealthy people who are now living down here. Other than that the town has a really nice and mellow vibe. If I were really rich and wanted to live very comfortably in a cool-looking town I would probably consider a place like Nosara. That is if I wanted to be comfortable and feel like I was back in the Western world, just with the added flare of... not. All that I just said above is why I avoided it. I don't think that the place is really suited to the backpacking crowd or the long-term traveler type. It's just simply out of the budget in every way. It also wasn't really all that interesting from a cultural perspective to me. So that is why I just blew through it. But for some people this is the perfect holiday vacation getaway. — Just wasn't for me. The thing that Nosara has, that Samara doesn't though, is apparently some really great waves. I wasn't there during the season, but from what I have heard and seen online the waves can really fucking turn on. So when it comes to Nosara I am not recommending, nor telling you not to go. Just calling it out. It's expensive, probably out of a backpacker budget, but if you want to have a kickass vacation and life be really easy and cool, then Nosara could be great. There's lots of yoga, wellness, smoothies and avocado toast. If that's your jam, and budget isn't an issue, come check out Nosara. — Expensive, but nice, but expensive.

GENERAL OVERVIEW
-
LOCATION - Nosara is located on the Nicoya Peninsula in the Guanacaste Province in the north of the country. The best way to get here is going to be to fly into the Liberia International Airport. It's about 2 hours away.
-
ACCOMMODATION - There will not be anything cheap here.
-
EATS - I grabbed a quick lunch and a beer here on my drive through. It was a nice spot called Beach Dog Cafe. It was the least pretentious place that I could find, and the food was good, if not pricey.
-
NIGHTLIFE - Probably not a whole lot.
-
SIGHTS - Lots of wellness and yoga stuff going on.
-
SURFING - I didn't surf here, but it looks like it can pump from the minimal search I did. Here's what looks like a local guide to surfing there.
