A 'Caye' is nothing more than an island. Typically pretty small, but some of them are much larger. They are defined as low elevation sandy islands. Belize is home to over 400 of these Cayes. Some places like Florida spell it 'Key', and others like Panama sometimes refer to them by the spelling 'Cayo'. But all the same, they are just really small little islands. 

Considering no one is going to try and visit all 400 Cayes in the country of Belize, I will outline below a few of the lesser known Cayes in the country that I found to be really lovely and are worth visiting. Especially if you want to go and be a little bit more adventurous.
