The northern beach towns in El Salvador are my favorite part of the country, without a shadow of a doubt. There are a lot of them in such a close proximity to one another that I figured I would just lump them all together and give them their own section. I really look at them as a group of places all in the same part of the country. The country is tiny after all, so all these places are within an hour or so of each other at most.   They are all located along the coastal highway 2, which snakes along the cliffs and coastline of this beautiful place. As you drive down this highway you will pass a lot of cliffside restaurants. They are local spots for the most part selling local seafood and other traditional dishes. Sometimes you may pay a slight premium for being right on the cliff, but these were some of my favorite places to stop and grab some food and a beer or something while I was driving up and down the coast. Don't sleep on the El Salvadorian Michelada either. It's my favorite version of the drink in Latin America.   All of the northern beach towns are home to amazing surf. The concentration of world-class waves here is like almost nothing I have ever seen anywhere in the world. Everywhere you turn for the most part you are going to be able to find a wave that make your mouth drop open. So here below you have your options for places to visit, stay, and live in, within the northern coastal portion of the country.
