santa ana, SV

I actually didn't go to Santa Ana. I'm not entirely sure why I didn't, but I was spending so much time at the beach that I pretty quickly was bumping up against my Visa time-limits, so it just never really occurred to me to go there at all. But I think I made a bit of a mistake by not at least paying the old colonial town a visit.    It's apparently considered one of the safest cities in the country. But I found the whole country to be safe, so who knows. I also had a lot of friends, — primarily the ones who didn't do much surfing, spend a lot of time in Santa Ana and love it. So this page is nothing more than a call out that this place exists, is popular, and you should think about going there.    It's also very conveniently located right around some of the best tourist attractions inland in the country.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

  • LOCATION - Santa Ana is located in the northern part of the country. About 30-minute drive from Lago de Coatepeque, and an hour or so from San Salvador. It is one of the bigger cities in the entire country, so it won't be hard to catch a bus here from really anywhere in the country.

  • ACCOMMODATION - I didn't stay here. I know there are hostels, etc.

  • EATS - Nothing to add.

  • NIGHTLIFE - Pretty sure there's a bit of nightlife here from what I heard. This is pretty much just a page to call out that Santa Ana exists though.

  • SURFING - Nada, up in the mountains.
