bogota, CO

I have heard absolutely nothing but starkly mixed reviews on Bogota. My friends from Bogota tell me that it’s not worth going but a few people that I met said they had a nice time. I skipped it personally, but likely you will end up going there. It’s the largest city in Colombia, and the capital so there’s history and stuff. At the end of the day though, Bogota is just another big city. I don’t love big cities and I figured Medellin, Cali and Cartagena was more than sufficient for me when it came to big cities. So, I skipped it. I think you can probably skip it too unless you are a big fan of big cities. So, there won’t be any advice on anything from me here. There’s plenty of other resources on the internet that you can check out.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

  • LOCATION - Shouldn't need much in the way of a description here. Its the largest city in Colombia, with 7 million inhabitants, at least. It's right in the center of the country and is also home to the largest airport in the country. If you flying internationally, odds are that you will at a minimum come through the airport which is located here. Personally, if you have a choice between the big cities in Colombia, Bogota is not the one you need to go to.

  • ACCOMODATION - I didn't stay in Bogota, but I hear that the most popular neighborhood for tourists to stay in is La Candeleria

  • EATS - Unsure, because I never went, but given its size the options will have no end.

  • NIGHTLIFE - Certainly will be a lot of it.

  • SIGHTS - Museums and such. But Not sure.

  • SURFING - Nope.
